Original name is Václavské Náměstí. Named by saint Wenceslaw, patron of Bohemia, whose statue you can find on the top of this square, in front of the National Museum. This square is main boulevard of Prague, with its 682 m lenght and 60 m width, with central location. From there, you can easily reach Old Town, New Town and other Prague sights in few minutes.
Staré Město (Old Town) is formed by plenty narrow alleys and streets, built in Middle-Ages. It is very easy to get lost there but very pleasant. Without map or guide, you never know which interesting place or building you find. The main part of Old Town is the Old Town Square, with the most visited Orloj (Astronomical clock) constructed in 1410. There are lots of stories about Orloj, about its history and constructors.
Nové Město (New Town) lies together with the Old Town. Not only the old part of Prague could have historical sights. You can find there for example National Theatre, National Museum, the New Town Hall, Vysehrad. Also one building connected with story about magician and alchemist Dr. Johann Georg Faust and his pact with the Devil - the Faust House.
Vyšehrad keeps magical atmosphere and and the old secrets. For its visitors, Vysehrad offers one of the most beautiful panoramique view in Europe, together with its parks. At the stronghold of Vysehrad are stored six original statues from Charles Bridge. Also there are many cultural actions and exhibitions in theme of the Middle-Ages and connected to Vysehrad or Prague.
The old Jewish quarter (Josefov) contains Museum of Judaism and seven synagogues, used to be the greatest ghetto in Europe. The Old-New Synagogue is one of the oldest temples in Europe and up to the present day the worships are done here. This complex of buildings is the biggest collection of jewish artefacts in whole World.
